Veteran actor Dindo Arroyo has shared for the first time about the biggest shock of his life: losing his wife to a heart attack. His story not only left listeners speechless, but also served as a warning about cardiovascular health that Filipinos should not ignore.

From the spotlight... to the emergency lights
Dindo's life was filled with laughter, parties and non-stop work. He met his wife, Sheryl Lyn, a beautiful Filipino-American woman, in 1995.
They fell in love, got married, had six children, and thought they would spend the rest of their lives together.
Until one morning in December 2009, Sheryl suddenly passed away from a heart attack, just days after their wedding anniversary.
"I was too complacent. She never complained of being tired, and I never took her for a heart check-up..." – Dindo said, his voice dropping.
Tragedy after tragedy
After his wife's death, Dindo fell into a deep depression. He drank for almost a year, lost interest in life, neglected his children and his health.
In 2014, he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer - only about 6 months to live. Once again, death approached, this time to him.
Thanks to the support of his family, Dindo was treated. And he began a new journey of life - a journey of no longer being subjective about his health.
